Open Question: Maths help, asap please!?
I have recently done my GCSE Maths exam (Calculator), higher tier, but i didn’t understand some of the questions.

I made sure that i made a note of them though so i could figure it out later (don’t ask me why, but it would bug me otherwise…lol)

Please can you try and help me with as many as possible??? I have some ideas about the answers of some but i still want to see what you all think.

Thanks!!! =]

1. Phil has 20 balls in a bag. 5 of the sweets are orange, 7 of the sweets are red, 8 of the sweets are yellow. Peter takes at random TWO sweets from the same bag. Work out the probability that the sweets with NOT be the same colour.

2. Simplify fully… x squared – 8x + 15 / 2x squared – 7x – 15

3. Prove that (3n+1)squared – (3n-1)squared is a multiple of 4, for all positive integer values of n

4. Toby invested £4500 for 2 years in a savings account. He was paid 4% per annum compound interest. How much did toby have in his savings account after 2 years?

5. Jaspir invested £2400 for n years in a savings account. He was paid 7.5% per annum compound interest. At the end of the n years he had £3445.51 in the savings account. Work out the value of n.

6. Simplify (2x)cubed.

7. The nth term of a number sequence is n squared + 1. Write down the first three terms of the sequence.
Please also add working when possible. Thanks!
whoops, question 1 should be 20 sweets in a bag, not balls.

Open Question: Taking of Pelham, why does he need the extra 10 million?
In the movie, the guy takes the train and does all the parts of the movie. What I don’t understand is, WHY does he need that 10 million when he has 307 MILLION from investing in gold. Also, why was the gold rising during the movie – just because he takes a train doesn’t give a good reason for gold too skyrocket astronomically. He says 10 years or whatever he had 2,000,000 gold. Now, 10 years later and during this terrorizing attack on the train – the golds value is 307,000,000 USD?

I don’t get it >.>
Yes, but why did he have too take the train in the first place? He already has 307 million in the bank. He could have just not done it and had 307 million. I don’t get his logic :@
I thought on the computer when it showed the graph of gold when he was in the taxi that it said 307m in green o.O
