Open Question: Investments: Should I keep investing money or hold off until the economy gets better?
I currently have 2 mutual funds that I’m investing money in. The allotments are automatic and they are set up to purchase at the current market price. So far in the last year I’ve potentially lost almost 50% of what I had invested in. If I sell, then the potential lost will be a reality. But people are saying this is a buyer’s market and we should take the opportunity to purchase while the economy is taking a hit and prices are low. I have no intention of selling, until the market goes back up. My question is: Should I keep buying as the value drops or should I hold off on the purchasing until the market stabilizes or starts rising again?

Open Question: Compound finance question – how to solve?
I’ve looked high and low and haven’t figured out how to solve this problem for my finance math hw:
“A mutual fund pays 8% compounded monthly. How much should I invest now so that 31 months from now I will have $2700 in the account? ”
I don’t see how the compound formula would be used to solve this. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!
