Open Question: A history of male gold-digging, unexamined?
On GWS, even the feminists will often agree that historically, the stereotype of women looking for providers comes from a past in which women could not work and create their own wealth.
Yet let’s talk about the dowry system, which was widely practiced by ALL social classes (among the upper classes, it involved money and property, among the lower, it involved livestock and household goods) across Europe and Asia and is still practiced in Asia today.
A young man of good education or title would never consider marrying a woman who was not heavily “endowered” by her father (though the wealth was never actually in her possession). Even farming-class men expected that marriage would bring them something material.
In India today, the dowry system is alive and well.
So why do only women take the rap for being “gold diggers” based on historical precedent?
Open Question: Why do we not raise the taxes on the top bracket from 35% to 50%?
Right now, Obama only wants to let the ridiculous Bush tax cuts lapse on the top bracket from 35 to 39.6% (a measly 4.6%) – which was what we had during Bill Clinton – our greatest time of economic prosperity.
During Reagan, from 1982-1986, the top tax bracket was lowered to 50%, from the previous level of 70% from 1971-1981 (and with his fiscal irresponsibility – he never decreased spending either as he had promised).
Since the private sector and local governments are not interested in taking charge on issues like: Education, Healthcare, the Environment, etc. then the federal govt. has to take charge (Remember, they wouldn’t need to do so if the private sector or local governments were doing it).
So my question is why not raise the top tax bracket to 50% which matches what it was during Reagan’s time (since conservatives are such fans of Reagan), not to mention we’d have have even more money to pay for our spending and even pay off our debt/deficit.
Note: By the way I am in the top tax bracket, for all the conservatives who will probably say I am unemployed, poor, collect welfare, yada, yada. I just feel that everyone should have the same opportunities I had (I said same opportunities, not necessarily the same results), to get a good education and to be successful in America, not based on what womb they happened to be born in. Even after writing this, I’m interested to hear what the acerbic right wingers will say.

It’s shocking to me that conservatives seem to think that paying for roads, bridges (to keep them from collapsing as happened in Minnesota), infrastructure, education (when it’s funded well it WORKS), is wasteful spending. It’s no wonder the GOP is going down the tubes due to its messed up priorities.
Open Question: need tailor made job?
Hi i need a job in sweden. gaming is my life.
I want to work as little hours as possible.
Would be great if I can decide when and how much to work as well.
I dont got any education.
Also working from home would be super good.
I hate normal jobs where you wake up every morning 5am and work from dusk till dawn. I will never go that road.
I tried poker which im very good at but its too frustrating game and Im angry all the time if im playing that so no thanks.
I tried stock market but too complicated to get into plus I heard it can take like 3 years before you even make some money there.
Id rather not have to go through any education but might consider it if the reward is the perfect job for me.
it would be great if i could play games for money somehow like a game tester or something but ive googled so much but found nothing so i guess thats a no as well.
