World’s biggest private-equity firm to eliminate 70 jobs

Blackstone Group LP, the world’s biggest private-equity firm, plans to cut 70 jobs as profits decline, Bloomberg.com has reported.
Bloomberg.com sources say the layoffs represent about seven percent of Blackstone’s 1,000 workers and will affect most of the company’s businesses.
Blackstone, who buys and sells companies, also invests in real estate, manages hedge funds, and runs a merger-advisory business.
Blackstone declined to comment on the matter.

Open Question: Need a home equity loan after bankruptcy just being discharged a month ago! Anyone know of any lenders?
My husband and I are needing a home equity loan for college tuition and other things. We currently own a home but is considered an investment property. We owe 73,000 on it and it got appraised at 138,000…but the only problem is we had to file Ch.7 bankruptcy at the beginning of the year and it was recently discharged at the end of May. Neither of us have any debt on our credit besides student loans but they are in deferment..So, does anyone know of any lenders who are easy to work with and would be will to help us??
Open Question: can a real estate attorney represent his fiance for ultimate personal/financial gain?
I was engaged 2 and 1/2 years ago to a real estate attorney that talked me into buying an “investment property” under my name only. This individual later convinced me that it was a good time to refinance the mortgage and cash out on the equity. He kept the cash out of 27000 and i did not see a penny. We were never married. We had an agreement that he would continue to pay the property until he was able to sell it. He continued to pay the mortgage for 2 years until he stopped paying it in january 2009. I could not afford the mortgage on that property and my current homestead due to my limited income. I now am forced to foreclose on the property. He is not on the mortgage so he holds no financial responsibility and my credit is ruined.
I take responsibility for being naive and trusting the wrong person, but was he unethical in representing me for personal financial gain? And… is there anything that I can do about it now?
Open Question: Convertible notes and equity financing in Balance sheet?
How do I record in the balance sheet a $50k investment in convertible note from one investor, where the amount gets converted into equity after, say two years,and a $400k of equity financing from another investor? It’s a C-corp start up.
