In today’s world everyone is looking to contribute to the efforts to “go green” and help our environment. The home heating oil industry is no different. Energy companies are taking charge in the community to provide their customers with Bioheat options for their home and business needs.

Biodiesel is a new form of fuel that is derived from animal fats or vegetable oils and is a renewable resource. Recently Pullum/Sibling Energy, for example, converted to Bioheat in their offices and is offering the same option to their customers. All in the name of helping the environment.

Numerous are the advantages of utilizing Bioheat. When it makes up only 20% of the fuel mixture (referred to as B20), it emits 83% less sulfur emissions. This B20 mixture reduces nitrogen oxide as well as carbon dioxide by 20% and 16% respectively. We are aware that carbon dioxide is a contributing demon towards global warming. Plants used to derive the fuel remove a greater amount of carbon dioxide which is produced by Biofuels used for Bioheat, but remove a greater amount during the course of their life, therefore making Biofuel removes carbon dioxide and helps our environment by actually reversing C02’s atmospheric levels!

Often requiring modifications is a heating system that runs on 100% Biofuel. B20 fuel can work with existing fuel oil burners and is readily available. Usually between 2-5% is the increase over the course of a year, which is minimal, and the effects using this fuel has on the environment are positive and a great choice for those consumers worrying about our environment.

Energy company Pullum/Sibling Energy is finding responsibility in using Biofuel in all their applications as possible, and will lead the heating industry, also, in the direction of helping the environment, the “green” way.
